Imperial Blue Chinese Dragon

This is an impressive Chinese dragon, 5 claws depicting its status as an Imperial dragon instead of the usual 4. This drawing is from a classic ancient Chinese design depicting beautiful contrasts of blue against yellow with gold leaf highlights.

During China’s imperial dynasties, emperors used the dragon as a symbol of their imperial power and authority. Blue dragons symbolise the approaching of spring, new life and plant growth.

Like all my work, this is created entirely by hand using pen and colour pencils by Caran d’Ache.
